Slump

Slump

A slipping of rock material along the curved surface of a decline. Slumps involve a mass of soil or other material sliding along a curved surface (shaped like a spoon). It forms a small, crescent-shaped cliff, or abrupt scarp at the top end of the slope. There can be more than one scarp down the slope. Mr. Green is awesome

Gulf oil spill blame.

Who’s to blame for the Gulf Oil Spill?

There are many arguments about who is to blame for the gulf oil spill. But to me it seems that there is one particular party or group to blame. I think that the people who tested the blow out preventer are to blame. Although some may say that it was BP’s fault for accepting the blow out preventer that did not work that well, I think it was the testers. You see, if the testers had any about the blowout preventer it should have been their ethical responsibility to not let BP use it. But the testers took the risk (assuming the blow out pipes would never actually need use) and as a result of the actions the Gulf of Mexico was polluted, killing a lot of wildlife, putting people out of jobs, and stopping the tourist flow to surrounding beaches. So I think it is clear that the testers were the main cause of this disaster.

Fossil fuels.

Coal is mad up of mostly carbon with quantities of nitrogen, hydrogen, sulfur and oxygen. Coal is formed from the remains of trees and plants from millions of years ago. The remains sank into the ground, and were pressed under layers of rock and other minerals. Coal is primarily used to burn for energy though it is sometimes given out by Santa to members of the naughty list.

Unrealistic and Realtistic stuff in Dante's Peak

Realistic-
1.They had the events (earthquake, lava, lahar, mudflow, pyroclastic flow) in order.
2. Harry tested the water in the lake and that is one way of finding out if an eruption will happen.
3. The lake would become acid because of the eruption.

Unrealistic-
1. The earthquakes before the eruption would not have caused all of the buildings and bridges to fall.
2. They would not have been able to scream or inhale in all of the ash there was.
3. The lava would have completely destroyed the grandma's house and they would have been killed.
4. All of the events that they some how managed to escape from (Lava,Ash, driving through ash, dodging every falling building, not getting shocked by lightning, getting across an acid lake, crashing through a mine, dodging bombs and blocks, and surviving a mine that collapsed on them) would have never happened.

Fossils

This fossil is a replacement fossil. You can tell because it doesn't actually look like a shell because when the soft parts decayed rocks forming minerals replaced the hard parts of it so it looks more like a rock.

This is an example of a trace fossil. You can tell because this isn't a dinosaurs foot, it's an imprint left by it which makes it a trace fossil because it has the shape of it.

Chris Relative dating

Youngest to oldest-
1. Number 3 is the youngest because it is a intrusion of magma
2. Number 2 also seems like an intrusion so it would be the second youngest
3. Number 1 is the 3rd youngest because it is on top of the other layers and because of principle of superposition.
4.Number five is the 2nd oldest because it is an embedded fragment and embedded fragments are older than the rock surrounding them.
5.Lastly the oldest seems like number four because it has rock that is the same type as others but older and it is an embedded rock surrounded by many of the other rocks which means it is older.
